The Boone area is almost guaranteed to appeal to any girl in your group. With world-class spas, award-winning restaurants, and plenty of shopping opportunities, the Appalachian charm of this area is as unique and memorable as the mountain range in which it is positioned. Take the pressure off of trip planning and follow this 3-day itinerary for a girlfriend's getaway you won't soon forget.

Day 1

Morning:

Hike the Flat Top Tower Trail at Moses Cone Memorial Park

One of the most popular trails on our stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway is located within the sprawling former estate of Moses H. Cone. This hike is relatively easy at its start near Moses Cone Manor, with gradually climbing switchbacks often used by runners and horseback riders. As you continue past the ¾-mile mark, the trail opens up with spectacular views of neighboring Grandfather Mountain. At the conclusion of the trail, the 4-story lookout tower offers panoramic views of the High Country and brag-worthy photo opportunities.

Afternoon:

Spa Treatment

There’s no better way to relax after a morning of outdoor adventures than with a visit to one of our local spas. Enjoy a range of wellness treatments from foot soaks to float therapy, nordic saunas to halotherapy. Some of our resort spas even offer charcuterie or gourmet lunch add-ons, ensuring well-rounded satisfaction for each of your girlfriends.

Cocktails at the Horton Hotel

This boutique hotel isn’t just for overnight visitors. Enjoy carefully-crafted cocktails at the lobby lounge, or soak up the scenes of downtown on the rooftop lounge.

Evening:

Dinner at Vidalia

Just a five-minute walk down King Street will land you at Vidalia Restaurant and Wine Bar. Expect elegantly-executed New American cuisine prepared using the freshest local ingredients, served in a sophisticated, yet cozy, environment.

After-Dinner Drinks and Desserts at Venture

Situated near the Horton Hotel, Venture Chocolate + Wine Co. was practically made for girls’ getaways. All of the chocolate is crafted from the finest cacao, leading to quality single-origin bars and truffles. One of the best ways to experience this fresh chocolate is in a thick, hot chocolate form known as sipping chocolate (order it with Grand Marnier for a truly delectable treat).

Day 2

Morning:

Breakfast at Melanie's

Melanie’s Food Fantasy is one of those area-defining locales that foodies return to again and again. From the kitschy atmosphere to the vegan-friendly menu items, this spot is sure to please everyone in your crew. On one of the High Country’s “bluebird days”, enjoy patio dining at its finest.

Shopping Downtown

The shops lining King Street in downtown Boone could easily take up half of your day. Get lost in a wonderland of craft galleries, antique shops, and curated boutiques. Be sure to stop at Mast General Store for some novelty items to bring back to the family, and stroll through Common Good Co. for Pinterest-level home decor inspo. Need caffeine? Common Good has that, too!

Afternoon:

Wine tasting at Grandfather Vineyard

It wouldn’t be a girls’ trip without a little rosé! This family-owned and operated vineyard is positioned along the Watauga River with incredible views of Grandfather Mountain

Early dinner at the Gamekeeper

Well-known for its delectable wild game dishes, the Gamekeeper is an adventure in fine dining that masquerades as a historic mountain lodge. The menu changes seasonally, blending the traditional with the exotic, satisfying both meat and veggie lovers.

Evening:

Enjoy a Live Performance

There are two fantastic performing arts venues in Boone - the Schaefer Center and the historic Appalachian Theatre - each offering a variety of shows year-round. While App State’s Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts brings in notable performances from around the globe, the recently-renovated App Theatre offers nostalgic charm and intimate viewing opportunities of national, regional, and local acts. Either venue makes for the perfect evening spent with friends. Take a look at our Events calendar to see what's showing during your stay.

Day 3

Morning:

Brunch of Your Choice

It’s your group’s last day in Boone and we would be remiss if a brunch gathering wasn’t in the plan! Whether you’re leaning towards a refined southern plate like shrimp and grits or classic diner favorites like biscuits and gravy, brunch is a breeze in Boone. See Boone Brunch 101 for some quick inspiration.

Afternoon:

Check an Adventure off the Bucket List

There are so many unique activities to try in Boone that it is simply impossible to list them all. For winter visits, take a snowshoeing tour or ice skating lesson. Spring breakers, take to the river with one of our local outfitters and try your hand at fly fishing. During summer or fall, strengthen your bonds with whitewater rafting, an alpine coaster, or a zipline

Stop by Booneshine Brewing Co.

On your way out of town, make one last stop at this spacious brewing facility in East Boone and score a six-pack to remember your trip by. The mural in Booneshine Brewing Co.’s taproom makes for a memorable group photo before you depart.
